Key Responsibilities
  • i. Develop strategic, medium term and operational plans for the school in line with the University strategic plan so as to achieve the mission and vision of the university.
  • ii. Chair the school board in relation to all school matters through leading deliberations on respective meeting agendas.
  • v. Oversee effective teaching and learning takes place in the school as per the approved University schedule to ensure compliance and subsequent service delivery.
  • x. Allocate work to staff in line with job descriptions and annual work plans to ensure all school tasks are carried out in a timely and complete manner.
  • iii. Chair the school student admission committee in line with the Commission for university Education guidelines so as to ensure admitted candidates meet the minimum requirements f
  • iv. Prepare admission summary, teaching, student progression, examination result and graduation reports using appropriate analytical tools to aid in decision making.
  • ix. Oversee the preparation of the school budget for all its planned programmes and activities
  • vi. Oversee preparation, moderation, administration, processing and reporting of examination results in line with standard operating procedures to ensure integrity of the university
  • xi. Oversee staff performance appraisal for all staff in the school through validation of the integrity of information provided by the relevant supervisors of staff on the appraisal
  • vii. Oversee preparation, analysis and presentation of graduands list as per the curricula expectations to ensure timely and accurate classifications as per the university regulation
  • xii. Oversee preparation of the school work plan through needs assessment and subsequent human capital matching.
  • xv. Oversee development, implementation and review of curricula in line with the Commission for University Education set standards.
  • xx. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the DVC ASA.
  • xiii. Ensure proper loading of lecturers.
  • xix. Develop professionals through mentorship to ensure progressive career growth of staff and students in the schools.
  • viii. Oversee the preparation of the school annual procurement plan through needs assessment and subsequent resource matching.
  • xiv. Supervise departmental operations encompassing student registration, class attendance and lecturer attendance through observation and scheduled physical checks.
  • xvi. Develop proposals on physical infrastructure and staff developments in line with emerging needs, practices and challenges.
  • xvii. Address student issues using appropriate communication skills and channels.
  • xviii. Recommend to the Senate, persons for appointment as internal and external examiners in the school in line with required competency levels.
Requirements
ACADEMIC
Must have at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since becoming a Lecturer. OR at least one (1) refereed book in candidate’s professional area published by recognized publishers, plus two (2) articles, OR at least (3) distinguished -exhibition, performances or original creation, plus one (1) article in a refereed journal since becoming a lecturer;
Supervision of postgraduate students is an added advantage
Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
Be registered with Law Society of Kenya and with a valid practicing license.
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity
Must have at least three (3) years of university teaching at the level of a full time Lecturer;
KCSE Certificate or equivalent
Ph.D. degree in Law or closely related field from a recognized academic institution
